(AKA the most important mind hack ever).

Let me tell you something. You’re far too tolerant of your own bullshit. But that’s OK because that can change. The power is in you to ignore it. All it takes is a simple change of mind each time a glob of your bullshit infiltrates your headspace.

Here are some examples of your bullshit *clears throat*

I don’t want to exercise.

I’m so furious with (insert friend / sister’s name). How dare she say that (insert annoying thing) to me last week.

I can’t believe I had that milkshake yesterday, what am I, a child?

I’m a shitty daughter / wife / sister / friend / pet owner.

I can’t believe I did that thing when I was, like, 15. How embarrassing. That’s probably all anyone will remember about me from school.

What if that pain in my side is kidney / liver / appendix problems?

I can’t go and do the exciting thing eg start a biz, move abroad, learn to kitesurf, because I might fail and/or run out of money and/or die.

The mind, with all its fear mongering, will rule you if you don’t take charge. Any time one of these crazies enters your headspace you notice it, roll your eyes at it and settle back into a feeling of peace. Become tranquil. You can do it at will.

When you first start this practice you might have to do it 10 times per minute as your thinking rages, but as you get better at this practice you’ll notice your mind throwing up fewer and fewer of these nasties to quash.

It gets easier with time, basically.

That’s because what you’re actually doing is rewiring your brain with a bit of the old self-directed neuroplasticity. Which is all the rage, I might add. You do this and you’ll be ahead of the curve. You’ll be leading the pack. To where? To a quiet mind, happiness and big bouncing success to boot.

You’ll notice this powerful drive opens up within you to do, work, achieve…. live. It’s like once you stop being a passive victim of your own thoughts, you stop being a passive victim of your own life – and you realise the power is within you to make anything you like, and as much as you like, happen. Which is way more fun than just living stuck inside that big fat head of yours, being shoved from angry pillar to anxious post.

Break free of your own bullshit and you start to enjoy life. You start to thrive on getting shit done. Stay stuck however, trapped within the confines of your thinking, and nothing will change. If you love your life as is, that’s cool, but if you don’t and you feel like there’s something more, then this is what will save you. Nothing else will.

As if that’s not enough, you’ll also find yourself easily rolling your eyes at (aka ignoring) your food cravings. You won’t go for the calorie-dense snack, you’ll go for the apple. You won’t help yourself to a second helping because you’ll no longer see the point. What’s more, you won’t feel hard done by either – and this is key.

Bottom line…fix your mind and your behaviour follows.

Fix your behaviour, and success (plus a ripped bod) is yours.
