Can I tell you why, when faced with a choice between soup or a sandwich and packet of crisps, you choose the sandwich, every time, despite wanting to lose weight?
It’s because you experience thoughts and feelings urging you to do that. You feel a genuine longing for the sandwich because the thoughts and feelings currently richocheting through your system are creating this specific desire inside you.
Trying to resist this urge feels hard and the thought of eating the soup leaves you in a bitter, angry mood. But, here’s the thing, if you can seperate yourself from these thoughts and feelings, and choose not to listen to what they say, ie. if you change your reaction to the urge you’re experiencing for the sandwich, you’ll create enough space inside you to be able to choose the soup without drama. Then, being a thin person becomes inevitable for you.
The secret to changing your behaviour, any behaviour, is to detach from the thoughts and feelings that are urging you to go the way you’ve always gone, so you can deliberately choose to go the new way, the way that’s helpful, the way you actually want.
Which I agree sounds too simplistic to be worth thinking about any further, but this mind hack, this thinking skill, is powerful shit and will let you become someone who can listen to their thoughts and feelings without having to act on them.
What this means is you now have in your hand the tool that’s going to let you change your behaviour at will. So, I hope you weren’t too attached to your muffin top, because it’s toast.
Stay salty, bitches.
